Guide: Prioritize Partner List Users Who Visited Your Site

This guide walks through how to target users from a partner‑provided list (Imported Audience) who also engaged with your site (Segment). By combining both, you can focus spend on high‑intent users while staying HIPAA‑compliant. This guide covers how to:

  • Import and prepare your partner‑provided list

  • Create a Segment of users who visited your site

  • Combine the two in your ad platform for advanced targeting

  • Apply best practices for compliance and efficiency

1. Prepare your partner list (Imported Audience)

Imported Audiences let you bring external lists into Freshpaint for campaign targeting.

  • Go to Audiences → Imported Audiences.

  • Click Import audience and upload your CSV (single column labeled “email”).

  • Choose your Destination(s).

  • Name your audience and add an internal description (stays inside Freshpaint).

    • Review the Ad Platform Alias (privacy‑safe; no health context).

  • Click Create Audience.

✅ Sync starts right away. You’ll see it listed in Imported Audiences and can monitor status on the Audience details page.

2. Create a site visitor Segment

Segments capture real‑time behavioral activity such as page views.

  • Go to Audiences → Segments.

  • Click Create Segment.

  • Choose your Destination(s).

  • Define conditions based on site behavior. For example:

    • Event: Page Viewed

    • Filter: page_url contains “/services”

    • (Optional) Frequency/recency: at least once in the last 30–90 days

  • Name your audience and add an internal description.

    • Review the Ad Platform Alias (privacy‑safe; no health context).

  • Click Create Audience.

✅ Your audience now represents users who showed interest by visiting your site.

3. Combine in your ad platform (partner list AND site visitors)

Target the intersection of both audiences for higher intent.

  • In your ad platform’s audience tools, search for both Freshpaint audiences by their aliases.

  • Include: your Imported Audience (partner list).

  • Include: your Segment (site visitors).

  • Set logic to include both (AND/intersection or “narrow further”).

  • (Optional) Exclude: “Lead Form Submitters” to reduce wasted spend.

✅ You’ve created a high‑intent targeting group from partner‑provided emails who also engaged on your site.

Reminder: Look for anonymized names in your ad platforms

  • Freshpaint sends an anonymized, platform‑safe alias for every audience. This is the name you’ll see downstream.

  • Your internal Freshpaint name won’t appear in the ad platform. Always search/select the alias you set during creation.

  • You can review the alias anytime on the Audience details page.

Best practices & reminders

  • Maintain HIPAA compliance: Never include health context in aliases. Keep clinical terms in internal names only.

  • Plan for processing delays: Platforms may take 24–48 hours to process new/updated audiences.

  • Monitor audience overlap: Intersection targeting reduces size; aim for 1,000+ matched users.

  • Refresh data regularly: Update partner lists monthly; revisit Segment criteria quarterly based on performance.

What’s next?

  • Build exclusion rules → Remove users who already submitted a lead form.

  • Create lookalike campaigns → Expand reach based on your best‑performing audiences.

  • Refine segments → Layer recency/frequency to prioritize the most engaged users.
