The heart of our new Analytics feature is the dashboard. By default, this dashboard displays an overview of the most important high-level metrics about the selected Freshpaint environment's traffic and marketing performance in a convenient view. This view is filtered to show the past seven days' worth of events, but you can alter this filter to fit your needs.
The Analytics dashboard includes a number of tiles to help understand your site's performance. You can learn more about each tile's contents below.
The web overview tile shows your site's traffic at a glance. Each metric shown also includes an indicator showing whether the given metric is trending in a positive (green, upward) direction, or in a negative (red, downward) direction over the selected time period.
The top conversions tile shows a list of conversion events that occurred over the selected time period. The conversions are sorted in descending order by how many conversions occurred over the selected time period. You can click the "Show more" button to see a longer list of conversions in a bigger view if necessary.
The top events tile shows a list of events sorted in descending order by how many events of each kind occurred over the selected time period. You can click the "Show more" button to see a longer list of events in a bigger view if necessary.
The trends tile shows a time-series chart displaying trends on your site plotted over time. By default, the Unique Visitors chart is shown, but you can also view trends for Views, and for Sessions. Hovering over each "dot" on the chart's trend lines displays a clear view of the current (and previous) values for that point in time. Depending on how long the selected time period is, the chart's data can be grouped by different time increments to explore changes in data by finer or broader degrees of detail.
The darker line shows the displayed metric for the current time period (the currently selected time period for the dashboard). The lighter line shows the displayed metric for the previous time period to provide a relative comparison to the previous window of time. For example, if the default time period "Last 7 days" is selected for the dashboard, the current time period would display the last 7 days' worth of data, ending on the current day, and the previous time period would display data for the period ending 7 days ago, and going back to 14 days ago.
The top paths tile shows a table showing the most visited URL paths (individual pages) on your site, sorted in descending order by the number of page views for each path. The number of unique visitors, and the average bounce rate, are displayed as well. You can click the "Show more" button to see a longer list of pages on your site in a bigger view if necessary.
The sources tab shows a list of the most prevalent sources of incoming traffic to your site, sorted in descending order by the number of page views for each source. By default, sources by Channel are shown, and you can also break down sources of traffic by the Referring domain, or by each of the main UTM parameters. You can click the "Show more" button to see a longer list of sources on your site in a bigger view if necessary.
The devices tile shows a view of the different technologies your visitors are using to view your site. By default, a pie chart showing your visitors' device types is shown. You can also see the most popular browsers or operating systems, which are both sorted in descending order by the number of page views. You can click the "Show more" button to see a longer list in a bigger view if necessary.
The geography tile shows a table with the locations your traffic is coming from, sorted in descending order by the number of page views per location. By default, the geography is broken down by Top cities, but you can also show data by Region (ie. U.S. state), Zip code, or County. You can click the "Show more" button to see a longer list of locations visitors come from on your site in a bigger view if necessary.
Freshpaint is able to detect the location of your users in a HIPAA-compliant manner by using the IP address from the event. We are able to collect and use this data because of our Business Associate Agreement.
