# How does Freshpaint compare to server-side Google Tag Manager?

### Unlike server-side Google Tag Manager, Freshpaint can send data to any of our supported destinations in a HIPAA-compliant way.

* Freshpaint does not require you to manage your own servers.
* Freshpaint does not run the risk of accidentally adding tags to non-compliant destinations that expose you to liability.

**Server-side Google Tag Manager is not default-safe.** If you add a tag type which would send data to a non-compliant destination, the data **will be sent there** without any protection.
